Very
little is known about Sailorcosmos, in fact
she's an extremely minor character with very
little featured time in both the anime and
manga. She appears briefly in manga volume
eighteen, and about as much as a few seconds in
episode 200, the last episode of the Sailor
Stars season. Her roles in the anime and manga
differ greatly; her significance is almost unrelated
in the two versions.
In the anime, Sailorcosmos plays a super short role. At least in the manga she spans a couple of pages, but in the anime she's only seen for a few seconds at best, and she is unrecognizable. The picture above is all that's seen of her in the anime; her figure is wrapped in light. In episode 200, when Chibichibi transforms into a sword to help Sailormoon, she first transforms into Sailorcosmos. So technically, Sailorcosmos is the true form of Chibichibi. Sailorcosmos comes from the future to help Sailormoon defeat Chaos, because when Sailorcosmos had the chance to fight Chaos, she ran away. Regretting this decision, she comes to help.
In the manga, things are a
bit switched around. Sailorcosmos turns out to
be the true form of Sailormoon in the
future, not a form of Chibichibi.
The word "cosmos" itself refers to the
universe as an orderly, harmonious whole, and
harmony and order is the opposite of Chaos.
Therefore, Sailorcosmos is the opposite
of Chaos.
In
both the anime and the manga, Sailorcosmos comes
to the present in order to help Sailormoon defeat
Chaos. In both the versions of the story,
Sailorcosmos had run away from Chaos instead of
fighting it. In the manga, Sailormoon goes into
the Galaxy Cauldron to fight off Chaos.
Sailorcosmos is asked: "Are you the future
Sailormoon's ultimate form?" She replies: "I am only a coward. I abandoned everything, and ran away from where I should have been.
I am no match for the final courage and strength of Eternal Sailormoon."
Sailorcosmos explains that all through the Sailor Wars against Chaos, she ran from Chaos rather than fighting it, and regretted it. Because of that regret, she came to where Sailormoon came to fight Chaos, to help her. She says, "I won't run away anymore. I'll go ahead to the future. Because I was blessed with great power by Eternal Sailormoon. All the courage and strength to stand alone, the courage and strength to accept everything! I had forgotten it. The matchless strength!" To the Sailor Quartet she turns and says:
"Now Eternal Sailormoon, who saved the galaxy, is the true Sailorcosmos. When, like Eternal Sailormoon, I can have the courage to stand alone, and the courage to accept everything, at that time I can be the true Sailorcosmos. Now, you shall return as well! To the place where you must return, to the person you must protect!" So Sailorcosmos proclaims Sailormoon as being the true Sailorcosmos, the one who protected the galaxy from Chaos.
