- - - - - - - - - - /// Sailormars Attacks

- - - Fire Soul
This attack is Mars' first. It creates a stream of fire, which is thrown at the enemy. In various episodes it is combined with Sailormoon's tiara to make a more devastating attack.

- - - Anti Evil Signs
Rei received this power when she became a priestess at the Hikawa Jinja. This talent of being able to read evil signs doesn't come from the power of Mars, but from Rei's Shinto priestess training. Rei gets this power from her religion and being a priestess; she's able to read the fire and sense "evil signs" even before becoming a senshi.

- - - Burning Mandala
Sailormars launches several rings of fire that are shot at the enemy.

- - - Akuryou Taisan
In this attack, Sailormars tosses a little paper with words Akuryou Taisan (evil spirits, be gone) at the enemy, usually paralyzing them. Like the Anti Evil Signs, Rei got  this from her priestess training, not from being a senshi.

- - - Fire Soul Bird
This attack is somewhat a mixture between Fire Soul and the Akuryou Taisan. Sailormars powers up an ofuda (charm), then creates a Fire Soul with it, shooting a bird-like apparition at the intended target. Used in Sailormoon R.

- - - Flame Sniper
Mars' most powerful attack, used in the Sailormoon Sailor Stars season, made of a bow and arrow of fire which is aimed and thrown at the target.

- - - - - - - - - - /// Rei in Depth

Rei is an obstinate, headstrong, and independent character who goes to a private girls' school. She is considered the queen of her class and other students are always looking up to her.

Rei lives with her grandfather at a shrine called Hikawa Jinja, and is a Shinto priestess there. Some of her powers as Sailormars are derived from her priestess training rather than the power of Mars. While Rei is serious and focused on the shrine, her grandfather is another story. He's perverted and always tries to get young high school girls to work at the temple with him. Rei's mother had passed away when she was small and her father is a very successful politician. He doesn't have time for Rei because he's extremely busy, not that he doesn't love her. It's easy to tell that Rei's been raised up without much of a motherly figure.

Rei is in touch with the spiritual world and she can sense when something bad is about to happen by reading fire as well as other things. She can't stand Usagi's laid back, silly attitude and they're always squabbling with each other. However, both of them are close friends and Rei is protective over Usagi. The two girls are extremely close, and their personalities as well as their family backgrounds and the way they were raised are nearly exact opposites.

Rei is the third senshi to be discovered and her element is obviously fire, which corresponds well with her Zodiac sign as well as her main color, which is red. Not to mention it goes quite well with her basic hot-headed and impatient personality. She's also the only senshi on high heels, which Takeuchi Naoko always is amused by. Rei is aggressive (like Makoto) and doesn't hesitate to attack. In the anime, she usually attacks first along with Sailorjupiter.

Independent, self-confident, and not to mention strikingly beautiful in a dark and somewhat intimidating manner, when Rei's not bickering or getting frustrated with Usagi, she comes of as very sophisticated. She carries a certain grace with her, and though she may seem stuck-up or self-centered, when it comes down to it she is neither. Rei is caring in her own way, and it's not easy to get under her skin. She only opens up to certain people and keeps her distance from others. This causes many people to admire her, from the girls at her school, to Usagi, to Yuuchirou. Kumada Yuuichirou was found drunk on her door step one night and as soon as he saw Rei, he fell in love with her and asked to stay at the shrine and train with her grandfather.

It's more evident in the manga than the anime, but Rei doesn't trust the male gender in the least (especially in the manga). She's hardly found swooning over guys or trying to find a boyfriend like Minako or Makoto are. To most males she's rather cold, and has a hard time expressing her emotions. In the manga she has no romantic interest; Yuuichirou is only an anime character. In the anime it may seem that Rei grows fond of Yuuichirou as time goes by, but she still has a hard time opening up, and he's found tripping over himself while trying to impress her a lot of the time. Though it may seem like a one-sided love interest, it's hinted in the anime that their relationship will develop further.

The one closest to Rei in terms of friendship in the anime is Usagi, though they bicker often. In the first season Rei was upset with Usagi because she was lazy and didn't take her job seriously. After Usagi became Princess Serenity and started to show her power more, Mars was one of her strongest supporters. And when Usagi realized that Mamoru was her lover in a past life, Rei graciously stepped aside. Their friendship also shows up in their alternate identities. Sailormars is very protective of Princess Serenity.

As Sailormars, Rei is a powerful warrior. She controls the element of fire and this makes her attacks very destructive, and her talent of reading fire is very helpful to the senshi on a number of occasions. Rei is an independent girl with a healthy self-image and work ethic, always keeping her duties serious. She's misunderstood by many, but those to whom she opens up always end up fostering a high respect for her, if not loving her.
