- - - - - - - /// Tuxedo Kamen Attacks

- - - Rose
This is Tuxedo Kamen's entrance. When the senshi are in trouble, he comes into the scene throwing a rose into the middle of the commotion. This stops the villain and gives the senshi a chance to get their act together.

- - - Cane
Tuxedo Kamen sometimes has a cane to battle it out with some sort of villain. He doesn't use this often but only when absolutely necessary. One wonders where he carries it, since he doesn't usually have it and whips it out at random. Then again, there are many things to wonder about Tuxedo Kamen.

- - - - - - - - - - /// Mamoru in Depth

Chiba Mamoru attends high school at the beginning of the series, when the inner senshi are in junior high. In Super S, he attends Azabu Institute of Technology and later on in Sailor Stars he goes to study abroad at Harvard. His parents died in a car accident when he was young and he lost his memory of it, but regains it later. He lives in a luxurious apartment. One can only wonder where he got all his money.

Mamoru and Usagi met for the first time when Usagi threw her crumpled (failed) test paper and it accidentally hit his head. Usagi is the only one who calls him Mamo-chan and he addresses her as either dumpling (odango) or Usako. Mamoru is actually Prince Edymion, Princess Serenity's (Usagi's) lover in a past life. He eventually will become King Edymion in the future, the husband of Neo Queen Serenity. He also has a close relationship with his future daughter, Chibiusa.

Mild mannered college student by day, by night Mamoru becomes Tuxedo Kamen, or Tuxedo Mask. He usually appears out of nowhere and throws a red rose in the way of the enemies in order to stun or confuse them, then goes off into a corny speech. In Sailormoon R, Mamoru's memory was erased and his unconscious memories of Sailormoon became fostered into his alter-identity as Tsukikage no Knight. He dressed in a daft white Arabian suit, threw a white rose at his enemies, and also had a sword as a weapon. Mamoru wasn't quite sure why he kept turning into Tsukikage no Knight and helping Sailormoon since his memories had been erased, but it seemed like it felt right for him to do so. He returned back into Tuxedo Kamen after he got back his memory. Mamoru was also once brainwashed by the Dark Kingdom and turned into Evil Prince Edymion, working for Queen Beryl. This guy's just full of alter identities, isn't he?

Mamoru's alter identity, Tuxedo Kamen appeared in the first episode of the anime while Sailormoon was fighting (or trying to) for the first time. He showed up with his signature red rose, gave her a pep talk, then vanished into the night. This formula seems to characterize all of Tuxedo Kamen's appearances. Once in a while he will attack using a cane but for the most part he stays out of the way and is content letting the senshi do the work.

Mamoru is extremely devoted to Usagi. So devoted in fact, that during Sailormoon R, while Mamoru didn't have his memory regenerated after the battle with Queen Beryl, Tsukikage no Knight was created because Mamoru's feelings were so strong that memories were still alive and he wished to be able to protect Usagi. There was once a time where Mamoru did anything in his power to avoid Usagi at all costs because of the idea that if he was near her, he'd end up hurting her.

During the earlier seasons Mamoru acts distant and mysterious, but most of it's due to the fact that he has nothing to explain because his memory is wonky. After he gets his memory back he opens up more but is still a naturally reserved person. This truly makes him and Usagi opposites, yet they still make a good couple. Usagi brings much needed carefree, childish light and laughter into his life, while he is a good calming, down-to-earth influence on her impulsive, somewhat immature, and dreamy actions. While Usagi is an extremely open person who has no trouble expressing her emotions, Mamoru likes to keep most things to himself. He's a dark kind of guy; while Usagi's emotional and loud, he somewhat balances her out by thinking with his head and is more quiet. Not to mention there are drastic academic differences between the two.

One thing that Mamoru has in abundance is patience. This becomes painfully evident when Chibiusa shows up and she and Usagi battle for his attention. Mamoru's one glaring fault though is that he's incredibly prone to brainwashing. It just happens so often.
