Terada-sensei is a very minor character, and doesn't get much development through the series. In fact, he's such a minor character that I have no images of him on my hard drive. And I was sure I had at least one image of everyone. :P

Terada-sensei is the homeroom teacher of Sakura's class at school. He was the teacher when we first meet him in the series, and stays the homeroom teacher much throughout the whole series. He is mainly there as a teacher figure, as he teaches Sakura's class in homeroom and gym, I'm not sure about any of the other classes. Though Terada-sensei is a very minor character, he still has some depth to him, and that appears in his love for his students, and for one student in particular.

Being a very caring teacher, Terada-sensei loves and cares for all of his students in a father-like way. He's very kind and respectful of them all, and I'm sure they all adore him in return. There is one person, however, that he loves much more significantly, and that is Rika. The feeling is actually mutual, as they both really love each other. In the anime, it seems that their relationship is rather one-sided. We only get to see Rika's side of the story, and not much is focused on Terada-sensei. For example, Rika blushes around Terada a lot, she has a way of looking at him in class which gets him all flustered, when she learns that Terada is once again their homeroom teacher she is ecstatically, and she gives Terada-sensei her hand made teddy bear.

Not to mention, let's refer to the time with the Illusion card. When Rika was possessed by the Sword card, Sakura had to get the sword out of her hand to save her. So she used the Illusion card to show to Rika her most important person so to distract her. Who did the Illusion card show? I bet we all can guess.

In the manga their relationship is somewhat of a different story, in that it is more balanced in the sense that both of them contribute. Rika still blushes around him, she still has that way of smiling at him that gets him to blush, and I do believe that she gives him her teddy bear in the manga also. However, in the second volume of the manga, Terada-sensei gives Rika a ring, and says, "I told the clerk it was an engagement ring. Don't lose it until it becomes a wedding ring." Eventually, once Rika graduates from high school, they get married. So their relationship goes much deeper in the manga than in the more toned down anime version.

Overall, Terada-sensei is a very minor character which adds quite a twist to the series with his relationship with Rika, since these kind of teacher-student relationships are controversial and looked down upon by the general public. They're both against the odds, but love each other anyways. They're actually a lot like Sakura's parents, since Fujitaka was a professor at high school when Nadeshiko was a student, and when she graduated, they got married, much to Nadeshiko's family's dismay. I like those characters who go against all the odds for what's most important to them, those kind of relationships are definitely the most interesting.
